Atinder Sodhi Joins ZEE5 to Lead Growth and Strategy

After nearly eight years at JioStar, Atinder Sodhi has moved to ZEE5 to lead Growth and Strategy for the streaming platform’s digital business.

Sodhi announced the move through a LinkedIn post, marking his departure from JioStar, where he worked across Voot, JioCinema and JioHotstar. At ZEE5, he will work with Tejkarran Singh Bajaj, Business Head, ZEE5 India, and the wider team on the platform’s growth strategy.

From JioStar to ZEE5

Reflecting on his nearly eight-year journey at JioStar, Sodhi said the brands, businesses, teams and ambitions across Voot, JioCinema and JioHotstar evolved constantly.

He highlighted the opportunity to work with “incredibly smart people”, solve complex problems and build businesses at scale as a consistent part of his experience at the company.

Sodhi also expressed gratitude to Ujjyaini Mitra, Ferzad Palia, Gourav Rakshit and Alok Jain, whom he worked with at different stages of his JioStar journey. He said the trust, debates, challenges and perspectives gained during this period shaped him professionally and as a leader.

Growth and Strategy Mandate at ZEE5

In his new role, Sodhi will focus on driving Growth and Strategy for ZEE5’s digital business.

His mandate will include sharpening the platform’s consumer proposition, bringing content, product, data and growth closer together, and strengthening ZEE5’s position in India’s digital entertainment market.

Working With the ZEE5 Leadership Team

Sodhi said he is looking forward to working with Tejkarran Singh Bajaj and the wider ZEE5 team as the platform looks to shape its next phase of growth.

“The opportunity is compelling: build a sharper consumer proposition, bring content, product, data and growth closer together, and strengthen Zee 5’s position as one of India’s leading digital entertainment platforms,” Sodhi said.

He described the move as the “next chapter”, adding that there is “a lot to learn, a lot to build and an even bigger ambition ahead.”

Experience Across Media, Consulting and Advertising

Before his long stint at JioStar, Sodhi worked with organisations including Viacom18 Media, WNS Global Services, Ogilvy & Mather and McKinsey & Company.

His career spans media, advertising, consulting and business roles, adding to his experience in building and scaling businesses across the entertainment and digital ecosystem.

A New Chapter at ZEE5

Sodhi leaves JioStar with experience across multiple stages of the evolution of Voot, JioCinema and JioHotstar. His move to ZEE5 brings that experience into a new growth mandate focused on connecting consumer strategy, content, product, data and business growth.

As he begins his new role, Sodhi said he is “energised by the one that begins”, signalling his focus on the next phase of ZEE5’s digital business.
