Prime Video Secures Exclusive Local Streaming Rights for Six NHL Teams

Prime Video is expanding its regional sports streaming offering, adding six NHL teams to its local sports lineup from the 2026-27 season. Under a new multi-year agreement with the National Hockey League (NHL), Prime Video will become the exclusive local streaming home for the six teams within their respective regional territories.

The teams covered by the agreement are the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues.

Regular-Season Games and Team Programming

For fans within each team’s regional territory, the agreement will provide access to regular-season games, along with pre-game and post-game shows and additional team programming.

Each team will announce its own streaming packages and subscription options for its respective market.

The agreement adds to Prime Video’s existing local NHL coverage and forms part of Amazon’s broader expansion into regional sports streaming.

Expanding Prime Video’s Regional Sports Offering

Charlie Neiman, Head of Sports Partnerships at Prime Video, said the company aims to provide fans with more ways to connect with their local teams while expanding access to live games.

The latest agreement builds on Prime Video’s existing regional sports relationships, which include coverage involving the Seattle Kraken, MSG Networks, CHSN, NESN, Peacock NBC Sports Network regional sports networks in Boston, Philadelphia and the Bay Area, SNY, YES Network and Marquee Sports Network.

The company said additional agreements will be announced as they are finalised.

NHL Sees Greater Flexibility in Streaming

For the NHL, the partnership provides clubs with greater flexibility as audience viewing habits increasingly incorporate streaming platforms.

David Proper, NHL Chief Media Officer and Senior Executive Vice President, said the arrangement gives fans an easier way to find and follow their teams while expanding Prime Video’s role within the league’s media ecosystem.

Prime Video’s Wider NHL Relationship

The relationship between Prime Video and the NHL is also expanding at the national level.

Earlier this summer, Prime Video secured a 12-year agreement to exclusively broadcast Wednesday night national regular-season NHL games in Canada in both English and French, alongside significant postseason coverage.

The latest US local-market agreement adds another layer to the platform’s growing NHL presence.

Streaming Across Devices

For fans of the six newly covered teams, local games will be available to stream at home or on the move across thousands of compatible devices.

Viewing will be available through the web and the Prime Video app on smartphones, tablets, set-top boxes, game consoles and connected TVs.

Fans located outside a team’s regional territory will continue to have access through NHL Center Ice, keeping the new Prime Video agreements focused on in-market audiences.

With six additional teams joining its regional lineup, Prime Video is expanding its position in local hockey coverage while adding another component to its broader live sports offering.
