Aanchal Maheshwari Makes the Move from Prime Video to JioStar

Aanchal Maheshwari has joined JioStar as Vice President – Licensing and Programming Content Strategy, English Entertainment, bringing extensive experience across content acquisition, partnerships and media strategy as the company continues to strengthen its English and international content business for Indian audiences.

In her new role, Maheshwari will be part of the team responsible for building and scaling JioStar’s English entertainment and international content portfolio, supporting the company’s strategy to expand premium global programming for viewers in India.

Leading English Content Strategy at JioStar

As Vice President – Licensing and Programming Content Strategy, Maheshwari will work across content licensing and programming strategy, helping shape JioStar’s English entertainment offering.

Her appointment adds significant experience in content partnerships and acquisition as the company continues investing in international entertainment content.

More Than Six Years at Amazon Prime Video

Maheshwari joins JioStar after spending more than six years at Amazon, where she held multiple leadership roles across Prime Video’s content acquisition and partnerships business.

She most recently served as Head – Content Partnerships (Prime Video Channels & TVOD) from May 2024 to September 2026, leading partnerships across transactional video-on-demand and Prime Video Channels.

Before that, she led partnerships for Amazon Prime Video Channels and also worked on acquiring Hindi movie content, building experience across content licensing and distribution.

Eight Years at The Walt Disney Company

Before Amazon, Maheshwari spent more than eight years at The Walt Disney Company, working across content sales, syndication, marketing and strategic planning.

Her roles included Head – Fashion, Consumer Products Commercialisation, Associate Director – Content Sales, Senior Manager – Syndication & Disney Media Distribution, and Manager – Marketing & Strategic Planning across Disney Studios and Disney UTV.

A Career Across Technology and Telecom

Maheshwari began her professional career at National Instruments, where she worked in technical consulting and customer education and services.

She later joined Bharti Airtel through the company’s Young Leader Programme, taking on roles across enterprise business, telemedia and postpaid businesses before moving into the media and entertainment industry.

From Broadcast to Streaming Leadership

She also gained early media experience as a radio jockey with WorldSpace, adding to a career that has spanned broadcasting, technology, telecommunications and streaming platforms.

Maheshwari holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing and Strategy from the Indian School of Business (ISB).

With experience across content licensing, programming strategy, partnerships and media distribution, Maheshwari’s appointment reinforces JioStar’s focus on strengthening its English entertainment and international content business as it continues expanding its streaming and television offerings for audiences across India.
