Jio Studios Names Anu Sikka to Lead Its Animation Business

Anu Sikka has joined Jio Studios as Head of Animation, following her departure from her role as Executive Vice President at JioStar, according to sources.

Sikka joined JioStar in October 2024 as Executive Vice President. Her move to Jio Studios marks a continuation of her career in the kids’ entertainment and animation space, where she has built extensive experience in programming, content strategy and television insights.

Over 15 Years at Viacom18 Media

Before joining JioStar, Sikka spent more than 15 years with Viacom18 Media, working across kids’ entertainment and programming.

She most recently served as Business Unit Head for the Kids cluster at Viacom18 Media, a position she took up in November 2023.

Prior to that, Sikka was Head of Programming & Television Insights, OAP, at Nickelodeon India, where she worked from January 2011 to November 2023.

Experience in Kids’ Programming

During her tenure at Nickelodeon India, Sikka worked on programming strategy and the development and launch of channels including Nickelodeon Sonic, Nick Jr and Nick HD+.

Her role also involved developing original animated properties for the Indian market. The shows she was associated with included Motu Patlu, Shiva, Golmaal Jr, Chikoo aur Bunty and Bhoot Bandhus.

Early Career at Nickelodeon India

Sikka began her Viacom18 career in January 2006 as Programming Head for Nickelodeon India.

In that role, she worked on programming strategy for Nick and contributed to the development of a kids-focused channel network in India.

Moving Into Animation Leadership

Sikka’s appointment at Jio Studios brings her programming and kids’ entertainment experience into the studio’s animation business.

Her background spans programming strategy, television insights, channel development and original animated content, providing the foundation for her new role as Head of Animation at Jio Studios.
