Ankit Baldi Takes Charge as CEO at GMR Sports

Ankit Baldi has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of GMR Sports, taking on the top leadership role after joining the organisation in June 2025.

Baldi announced the appointment on LinkedIn, saying he was delighted to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer at GMR Sports.

Baldi Takes on Expanded Leadership Role

Baldi joined GMR Sports in June 2025 as Head of Business Development, Strategy and Governance. Since then, he has been involved in the organisation’s strategic and business development initiatives before moving into the CEO position.

Alongside his responsibilities at GMR Sports, Baldi also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Southern Brave, the Hundred franchise, a position he assumed in January 2026.

Experience With Chennai Super Kings

Before joining GMR Sports, Baldi spent nearly six years with Chennai Super Kings Cricket. His most recent position there was Chief Operating Officer, a role he held from September 2024 to May 2025.

Prior to becoming COO, he served as Head of Operations and Marketing, gaining experience across the franchise’s commercial and operational functions.

Leadership Across Global Cricket Franchises

Baldi’s career also includes leadership roles with international cricket franchises. He has served as Board Director and Head Franchisee at Texas Super Kings and Joburg Super Kings, adding experience across franchise development and sports business operations.

His professional journey has also included roles at The India Cements, IMG Reliance and the Indian Premier League, giving him exposure to multiple facets of the sports and entertainment ecosystem.

Moving Into GMR Sports’ Top Role

Baldi’s elevation to CEO brings together his experience in business development, strategy, governance, operations and franchise management. His background across domestic and international cricket properties positions him to lead GMR Sports as it continues to operate across the sports business landscape.
