Kyndryl Names Maged Wassim VP and Managing Director for Middle East and Africa

Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), a provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, has appointed Maged Wassim as Vice President and Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa (MEA). The appointment comes as organizations across the region increasingly shift from digital transformation initiatives toward becoming AI-native enterprises.

In his new role, Wassim will lead Kyndryl’s business across the MEA region, with a focus on strengthening strategic relationships with customers and partners and supporting organizations in developing long-term transformation strategies.

Leading Kyndryl’s MEA Business

Working alongside Kyndryl’s local teams, he will help customers modernize mission-critical technology environments while developing the skills, operating models and organizational readiness required to scale artificial intelligence securely and responsibly.

The role comes at a time when organizations across MEA are looking to combine cloud, data and agentic AI to improve competitiveness, strengthen resilience and identify new opportunities for growth.

Focus on AI-Led Enterprise Transformation

Wassim said organizations across the region are moving from initial AI adoption toward broader enterprise transformation, creating an opportunity to make AI a central component of business performance.

Brings Customer-Side Technology Experience

Wassim joins Kyndryl from Cognizant, where he served as Vice President for the Middle East market. Before that, he held the position of Vice President of Technology at one of the region’s leading retailers.

In that role, he was responsible for technology strategy and large-scale transformation initiatives. His experience overseeing both technology operations and business outcomes gives him a customer-side perspective on the challenges organizations face as they modernize their technology infrastructure and adopt emerging technologies.

Two Decades of Experience at IBM

Earlier in his career, Wassim spent two decades at IBM, holding several leadership positions across the company’s technology businesses.

Among his roles was Vice President, IBM Cloud and Cognitive Software, where he worked with organizations on cloud adoption, data and AI capabilities, and technology-led innovation.

His experience across technology services, enterprise transformation and customer-side technology leadership will inform his mandate at Kyndryl as organizations across MEA increase their focus on AI-driven transformation.

Academic Background

Wassim holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Capital University, formerly Helwan University, in Cairo, Egypt.

He also holds a Master of Science in Advanced Manufacturing Systems from Brunel University London in the UK.

His appointment positions him to lead Kyndryl’s regional business as organizations across the Middle East and Africa seek to modernize their technology environments while building the capabilities required for secure, responsible and scalable AI adoption.
