Universal Sompo Names Aparna Mehrotra as AVP – Strategic Lead, Communications

Universal Sompo General Insurance has appointed Aparna Mehrotra as Assistant Vice President and Strategic Lead – Communications, Public Relations & Social Media, strengthening its communications leadership as it continues to build its corporate brand and stakeholder engagement efforts.

In her new role, Mehrotra will oversee communications, public relations and social media initiatives, bringing together her experience across PR, brand strategy, marketing and digital communications.

Leading Communications at Universal Sompo

As Assistant Vice President and Strategic Lead – Communications, Public Relations & Social Media, Mehrotra will work across the company’s communications functions, supporting corporate messaging, brand visibility and stakeholder engagement through integrated communication strategies.

Her appointment brings together expertise across corporate communications, marketing and public relations as Universal Sompo continues to strengthen its communications function.

Over Four Years at SBI General Insurance

Before joining Universal Sompo, Mehrotra spent more than four years at SBI General Insurance, where she most recently served as Chief Manager – Corporate Communications.

She joined the company as Manager – Corporate Communications in March 2022, was promoted to Senior Manager in April 2023, and was elevated to Chief Manager in May 2024, reflecting a steady progression within the organisation’s communications team.

Experience Across Marketing and Public Relations

Prior to SBI General Insurance, Mehrotra spent nearly three years with Havas Group India, serving as Senior Manager – Marketing and Communications and Manager – Marketing & Communication.

Her earlier career includes roles at Adfactors PR, MullenLowe Lintas Group and its public relations division, GolinOpinion, where she gained experience across corporate communications, public relations and brand-led communication initiatives.

She also began her career with an internship at Liopinion, the Lintas PR Division.

Strengthening Corporate Communications

With experience spanning insurance, public relations and integrated marketing communications, Mehrotra now takes on a broader leadership role at Universal Sompo, where she will contribute to the company’s communications strategy across corporate messaging, public relations and social media engagement.
