TOI Digital Names Meghna Deka as National Editor & Video Strategy Head

Meghna Deka has joined Times of India Digital as National Editor and Head of Video Strategy, where she will lead the growth of its video business and new digital properties.

Deka will report to Aditi Prasad, Executive Editor – Video, Times of India Digital. Her remit includes the existing Times of India video portfolio as well as the expansion of properties including Times Axis, TOI Bharat and Defence HQ.

Expanding TOI Digital’s Video Portfolio

Times Axis is Times Internet’s platform for original programming, while Defence HQ focuses on military and defence stories through YouTube. TOI Bharat covers breaking news, political analysis and developments from across India.

In her new role, Deka will work with editorial and business teams to develop new formats, franchises and audience engagement initiatives across TOI Digital’s platforms.

The appointment comes as TOI Digital increases its focus on video, with plans to develop original IPs, new storytelling formats and digital properties aligned with changing audience consumption habits.

Over Two Decades in Broadcast Journalism

Deka brings more than 22 years of experience in broadcast journalism. Before joining TOI Digital, she was Editor – Output and a prime-time anchor at Times Now, where she anchored ‘Decoding Now with Meghna Deka’ and ‘Setting the Agenda’.

She also served as Head of Output at the channel for eight years. Earlier, Deka held editorial and anchoring roles at CNN-News18, India Today, NewsX and NDTV.

Focus on Building Video Brands

Commenting on the appointment, Aditi Prasad, Executive Editor – Video, Times of India Digital, said, “Video is now central to how audiences discover and engage with news. Meghna has spent two decades in newsrooms, most visibly as the face of prime-time news on Times Now, and she knows instinctively what holds an audience’s attention.
