Burson Names Ross Hall as Chief Client Officer for EMEA

Strategic communications firm Burson has appointed Ross Hall to the newly created role of EMEA Chief Client Officer, giving him direct oversight of client leadership, retention and organic growth across the region.

Hall, who has served as Burson’s EMEA Head of Clients since July 2025, will take responsibility for the strategic management of the agency’s top-tier client relationships. Working closely with practice and regional market leaders, he will focus on strengthening service delivery, establishing consistent client leadership practices and driving long-term account growth.

Sharpening Burson’s Regional Leadership Structure

The appointment follows the recent elevation of Helen Searle to EMEA Chief Growth Officer and Global Growth Partner. The move creates a clearer division between new business development and existing client leadership.

While Searle previously held responsibility across both client management and growth, her new remit will focus exclusively on new business acquisitions and international pitches. Hall, meanwhile, will concentrate on strengthening existing partnerships and identifying opportunities for organic expansion.

Experience Across the Communications Network

Hall joined Burson in 2023 to lead the agency’s EMEA corporate and public affairs practice. That function is now co-led by Lisa Welsh and Peter Gitmark, allowing Hall to move into broader regional client leadership.

Before joining Burson, Hall served as regional client services director for EMEA at Edelman and held senior leadership positions at Ketchum and FTI Consulting.

His experience across major communications networks gives him a broad perspective on client management, strategic counsel and regional account growth.

Focus on Client Value

Burson EMEA CEO Jon Hughes said the leadership change reflects the agency’s focus on delivering greater client value in what the firm describes as the current intelligence era.

Hall said the agency’s priority will be to connect its internal expertise more effectively with clients’ business objectives, with organic growth driven by the value delivered to clients rather than sales targets alone.

The appointment represents the latest evolution of Burson’s EMEA leadership structure under Hughes, who became EMEA CEO in mid-2025.

Burson was established following WPP’s merger of BCW and Hill & Knowlton, bringing the two communications networks together under a single global brand. The latest leadership changes are aimed at further refining the agency’s regional operating model while strengthening its focus on client relationships and sustainable growth.
