Sandhya Devanathan is set to join OpenAI as Vice President, Southeast Asia (SEA) and Australia, taking on a regional leadership role based in Singapore. Move from Meta to OpenAI

Devanathan joins OpenAI after spending more than a decade at Meta, where she most recently served as Vice President and Head – India and Southeast Asia.

Announcing her departure from Meta, Devanathan wrote, “After more than a decade at Meta, I’ve made the bittersweet decision to move on to my next adventure. Two Decades of Global Business Experience

Devanathan is a global business leader with more than two decades of experience spanning banking, payments and technology.

She joined Meta in 2016, where she helped build the company’s businesses and teams in Singapore and Vietnam, while also contributing to Meta’s e-commerce initiatives across Southeast Asia.

In 2020, she moved to lead Gaming for APAC, one of Meta’s largest global verticals.

In 2022, Devanathan was appointed Vice President of Meta India. In that role, she focused on aligning the organisation’s business and revenue priorities with the needs of its partners and clients, while supporting Meta’s long-term growth and commitment to the Indian market.

Her transition to OpenAI marks a new chapter in her technology leadership career, bringing her experience across digital platforms, technology, business development and regional markets to the company’s expanding presence across Southeast Asia and Australia.
