Ananya Birla Takes the Helm as Founder and Chairperson of Birla Studios

Ananya Birla has formally announced on LinkedIn that she has taken on the role of Founder and Chairperson of Birla Studios, a film studio focused on developing high-concept, commercial cinema.

Sharing the update on LinkedIn, Birla wrote, “I’m very late to update my LinkedIn — I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Founder and Chairperson at Birla Studios! For the love of cinema!”

Building a Multilingual Film Slate

Birla Studios was launched in February 2026 with a focus on developing a diverse slate of films across multiple languages. The studio is working on projects spanning Hindi, Gujarati and Malayalam, among other regional languages, alongside international English-language cinema.

The venture marks Birla’s continued expansion into the entertainment and creative industries, with the studio aiming to develop commercially driven films with high-concept storytelling.

Expanding Entrepreneurial Portfolio

Birla is also the Founder and Chairperson of Svatantra Microfin, adding the film venture to a broader portfolio of entrepreneurial and leadership responsibilities.

In 2025, she expanded into the beauty sector with the launch of Contraband and LOVETC under the Birla Cosmetics banner.

Alongside her entrepreneurial ventures, Birla continues to play a strategic role at the Aditya Birla Group and serves on the boards of Hindalco, Grasim and Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail.

Her appointment at Birla Studios adds a new dimension to her business portfolio, bringing together her entrepreneurial interests with the creative and commercial opportunities emerging in the Indian and international film industry.
